Featured Mozilla-Based Applications for January

People and organizations are doing a lot of interesting things with Mozilla technologies. Here are two of the many Mozilla-based applications available. If you would like to suggest other applications to feature, please leave a comment.

KompoZer is a web authoring system that combines web file management and easy-to-use WYSIWYG web page editing for people who want to create a professional-looking web site without needing to know web coding.

Postbox helps you make the most of your email, offering powerful new ways to find, use, and view email messages and content, organize your work life, and get stuff done.

  1. Yay for Kompozer and its community !!🙂

Amazing to see how this project has turned from a bug fix release of an abandonned project into an actively developped new project with a growing and active community to support it!!

  2. It is indeed great to see that Kompozer has woken up after a long post-0.7 hiatus – it’s probably the spin-off from original Netscape browser that’s had the least “love” in the past few years.

As for Postbox, I’m a little baffled by that one – some ex-Mozilla contributors (including none other than Thunderbird supremo Scott MacGregor) developing a closed-source, paid-for e-mail client that isn’t available on Linux? Does anyone actually pay for an e-mail client any more (all OS’es come with a free e-mail client, there’s Thunderbird if you want to download one and don’t forget free Webmail too)?
